New Dawn (A2 Print)
New Dawn (A2 Print)
Dusk was approaching, we were on our third day of trekking the Cairngorm Platea. It was a day of learning, getting to grips with our new snow spikes and becoming acquainted with blizzard conditions. I’ve never felt gusts like that. A wind that would bounce down the saddle of the valley and actually push us over. As we crouched down the fog parted slightly and we caught a glimpse of the Hutchingson Memorial Bothy. Our resting place for the night. for two tired souls, this was a true relief. I remember a piercing sense of vulnerability, this place was truly powerful.
After our cosy night, we rose early and tip-toed our way out into stillness. We watched the sun creep over the mountainsides. In us there was a small change, We can only grow from our vulnerabilities. A tree doesn't grow from its dark strong exterior, it grows from its soft green interior. That day we awoke with some newly grown buds.
